Claude Fable 5.1 watermark: It has a blind spot developers can't ignore

Anthropic released Claude Fable 5.1 with a watermarking system that embeds a statistical signature in its text to signal likely authorship by Claude. The watermark changes the randomness used to pick next tokens and is more detectable in long natural-language responses than in code, and it can survive edits though rewriting may erase it. The update also tightens how preserved thinking blocks are carried into new accounts to limit model distillation, affecting new accounts across Claude Platform, Bedrock, Vertex AI, and Azure Foundry; existing customers have time to adjust.
